Install
Modus ships through the Mac App Store. Click the button below, install, and open the app. No account creation, no sign-in step — Modus uses your Mac's user account and writes its database to your local Application Support folder.
The 30-day trial
Every feature is on during the trial. There's no credit card, no countdown banners, no feature gates. Use Modus exactly how you'd use it long-term — connect mail, run the pipeline, log time, draft invoices.
When the 30 days are up, Modus enters read-only mode. Your existing data stays editable for exports and searches; new records (new contacts, new deals, new invoices) require an unlock. Nothing is deleted at trial end. Nothing ever is.
Unlocking the full app
Open Settings → Workspace → License and tap Unlock Modus — $129.99. The Mac App Store sheet opens, you confirm with Touch ID or your Apple ID password, done. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to a license key — there's no email with a serial number to keep track of.
Restoring on another Mac
Install Modus from the App Store on the second Mac and sign in with the same Apple ID. Open Settings → Workspace → License → Restore Purchases. Modus checks your Apple ID's entitlements and unlocks within a second. No re-purchase, no key entry.
If Restore says nothing happened: make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to buy Modus (System Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases).
Your data lives on your Mac
Everything Modus knows is in a SQLite database under ~/Library/Containers/xyz.getmodus.modus/. You can back it up with Time Machine, copy it to another Mac, or export anything to CSV, vCard, or PDF from File → Export. If Modus disappeared tomorrow, your data would still be on your Mac in a documented format.
iCloud sync
Mac-to-Mac sync via Apple's private CloudKit is on the roadmap for a v1.x release. At v1.0, each Mac runs its own local database — nothing is copied between devices unless you do it manually. We'll announce sync in the app's update notes when it ships.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Open your purchase history at reportaproblem.apple.com and request a refund within Apple's standard window. We can't process refunds directly because we never see your payment — Apple handles all billing.
