Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of Modus, the Mac app, and this website. They're written to be readable. If anything seems unclear, email us.
The agreement
By downloading Modus from the Mac App Store you agree to these terms and to Apple's standard end-user licence agreement, which applies in parallel to all App Store purchases.
What we provide
A native macOS app and (when you choose to enable them) optional features that connect to Apple iCloud, mail providers, calendar providers, and AI providers you authorise. Modus runs on your Mac; we do not operate a server that holds your data.
What you pay for
Modus is free to download. After a 30-day trial, an in-app purchase unlocks the full app. Refunds are handled by Apple through standard App Store policies — you can request one from your purchase history within Apple's refund window.
Your responsibilities
- You won't use Modus to violate any law or to harm others, including by sending email that breaches anti-spam rules in your jurisdiction.
- You're responsible for backing up your own data. Time Machine and iCloud Backup work; please use them.
- You won't attempt to reverse-engineer the Modus binary in order to bypass App Store licensing.
Third-party services
When you connect Gmail, Outlook, an IMAP account, or an AI provider, the terms of those services also apply to that connection. We don't mediate or proxy those relationships — they're between you and the provider.
Warranty & liability
Modus is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app beyond the amount you paid for it. Some jurisdictions don't allow this kind of limitation; in those, the limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted.
Changes
We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged in the app or by email if we have it.
